Grandma Siemiens Laid To Her Rest

"Grandma" Siemiens, as she was always called, passed away Monday of this week, after an illness lasting for some time, though only since last Christmas has her condition been critical.

Mrs. Siemiens was an old resident this section and had been a resident of Wellsburg for a long time, living in her own little house at the end of second street.

The funeral was largely attended, as there were many who knew her when she was helping to sew for the dressmaking of the earlier residents of this part of the country.

Interment was made at the Wellsburg Reformed church Wednesday, April 26th, at one o'clock, Rev. Wm. Landsiedel officiating.

The pall bearers were Chris Neesseman, H. Lindaman, Henry Hook, Eilt Stoppelmore, Jibbe Ross, H. G. Geerdes.

She leaves fourteen grandchildren and thirty-six great-grandchildren.

The funeral arrangements were in charge of John Doyen, the well-known funeral director of Wellsburg.

Obituary
Otje Siemiens, born Juncker, was born June 21, 1835, in Egelogefeld, Wesseltede, Oldenburg, Germany. She was married in 1860, in Germany, to John Diedrich Siemiens, who preceded her in death 37 years ago, in Germany.

They were blessed with two children, one daughter and one son, who both preceded her in death.

She came to America with her son, Bernard Siemiens, the daughter having died in Germany, in 1894. For many years she worked in this locality, for various families. For the past fourteen years she has been a resident of Wellsburg.

She was a seamstress and always a faithful and diligent worker. She was a Christian woman in all that the name implies, having faith in her Redeemer for her salvation.

For the past three or four years she has been a sufferer from asthma, which since last Christmas took on a more acute form, and finally caused her death, Monday, April 24th, at 7:30 a.m. at the age of 86 years, ten months and three days.
