Minerva Joan Juel, age 77, of Stout, Iowa, was born October 26, 1932, the daughter of Floyd and Lydia (Peters) Bausman of Wellsburg, Iowa. She received her education and graduated from the Parkersburg High School in 1950. Minerva worked as a secretary and receptionist for Dr. Hoogestraat in Parkersburg.

On February 14, 1955, Minerva was united in marriage with Charles Juel at First Congregational Church in Parkersburg. They made their home in Parkersburg for a short time. Minerva was a loving wife and mother of three sons. In 1956 they moved east of Stout and then two years later they moved to Stout. Minerva began working part time in 1960 as the assistant Postmaster in Stout, until she retired in 2003.

Minerva was a member of the Reformed Church of Stout. She loved to cook and bake, especially her home-made pies. She enjoyed gardening and planting flowers in the spring. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading magazines and going for walks. Through the years she enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud, but she especially loved watching sports, usually basketball or volleyball. Her pride and joy was her family, and she especially loved attending her grandchildren's activities and spending time with all of them was very important to her. She also enjoyed having morning coffee with friends and keeping in touch with friends and family on the phone.

Minerva died Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls from natural causes. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Ethel Luiken.

Minerva is survived by her husband, Charles of 54 years; three sons, Curtis (Kathryn), Kevin, and Kent (Tami), all of Dike; eight grandchildren, Amy, Megan (Seth Sharp), and Rachael Juel, Jesse Juel, Abby (Mitch) Kurtz, and Josh, Ashley and Jared Juel; two great-grandchildren, Madeline and Ella Sharp.

Funeral services 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 1, at the Reformed Church of Stout with burial at the Stout Cemetery, both in Stout.

Visitation from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg, and one hour before services at the church.
