Ausborn Rites Held Friday Afternoon

Funeral services for the late Mrs. Doris Ausborn were held Friday afternoon, September 3rd at the W. H. Draper home. Rev. Wayne W. Hoxsie, pastor of the First Presbyterian church officiated. Pall bearers were F. O. Ray, John L. Binder, W. G. Lounsberry, E. P. Smith, Will Franzenburg and E. F. Thorman. Flower bearers were Mrs. Paul Franzenburg, Mrs. Ben. Frederick and Mrs. Wayne Hoxsie.

Burial was in the Conrad cemetery.

Mrs. Ausborn was born Doris Struck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Struck in Holstein, Germany July 6, 1848 and died at the W. H. Draper home in Conrad September 1, 1937, at the age of 89 years, 1 month and 25 days.

She was married October 23, 1871 to Mr. August Andrew Ausborn who preceded her in death March 31, 1911. To this union seven children were born, two of whom preceded her in death, Miss Ella Ausborn and Mrs. W. H. Draper.

In the fall of 1886 the family moved to Conrad where Mrs. Ausborn has since made her home. She is survived by her 5 daughters, Miss Julia Ausborn, Mrs. C. H. Axtel, Mrs. Lyle Loverin of Conrad; Mrs. G. H. Goady of Lake City and Mrs. Clarence Beery of Clinton; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Ausborn’s life beautiful came to a close after several month of illness. She will be greatly missed not only by her bereaved family but by an untold host of friends as well.

Mrs. Ausborn, Aged Conrad Resident is Summoned Wed. A.M.

Had Been a Resident of Conrad For More than A Half Century

Mrs. Doris Ausborn, 89, a resident of Conrad for more than 50 years, died at 4:00 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1st after an illness of some duration. Death was due to old age and complications. She died at the home of her son-in-law, W. H. Draper, where she had made her home for a number of years.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Draper home with Rev. W. W. Hoxsie of the Conrad Presbyterian church in charge. Burial will be made in the Conrad cemetery.

Mrs. Ausborn was born July 6, 1848 in Germany and later came to America. The family first settled in Tama, later coming to this community.

Mrs. Ausborn is survived by five daughters: Julia Ausborn, Mrs. Anna Loverin and Mrs. Mary Axtell of Conrad, Mrs. Lena Beery of Clinton and Mrs. Augusta Coty of Lake City. She was preceded in death by her husband, August Ausborn, who died in 1911, and two daughters, Mrs. Dora Draper and Ella Ausborn.
