Arend Kannegieter, 50, Formerly of Ackley Dies

Funeral services were held on Monday, April 18, at 1:00 p.m. at the Brandt funeral parlors and at 1:30 p.m. at the Christian Reformed church, four miles east of Ackley, with the Rev. Isaac Meuzalaar officiating, for Arend Kannegieter, 50, who died of a heart attack Thursday, April 14, in Topeka, Kans. Burial was made in the cemetery adjoining the Christian church.

Mr. Kannegieter was born April 13, 1899, on a farm six miles southeast of Ackley, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Kannegieter. On Jan. 24, 1923, he married Lena Harken. He was a member of the Reben Cherry show troupe of St. Louis, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his mother and two infant sons.

He is survived by his four children, Mrs. George (Pearl) Rops Jr., 709 Englewood avenue, and Mrs. Lee (Angeline) Weekly, 515 East Park avenue, both of Waterloo, Cornelius and Marvin of Parkersburg; his father, Peter Kannegieter, Ackley, two brothers, Eibe, Ackley and Philip, Alden, and five sisters, Mrs. Herman Garrels, Dumont, Mrs. John Felthoff, Ackley, Mrs. Henry Sinning, Steamboat Rock, Mrs. Ed Ites, Ackley and Mrs. Earl Chaplin, Iowa Falls. There are four grandchildren.
