Harvey Eiten Services Held
Harvey Eiten was born on January 5, 1923 in Wellsburg. He passed away on December 18 at his farm home in Wellsburg. He was born the son of Ben H. and Mary Bakker Eiten.
He attended Wellsburg schools and graduated from the 12th grade. He was inducted in the service in 1945 and served in the Army during the occupation of Japan.
On July 7, 1951, he was united in marriage to Ella Mae Lange at the Congregational Church in Iowa Falls. They farmed west of Wellsburg until his retirement in 1980 and continued living on the farm. Harvey served as Shiloh Township Clerk for 28 years and was a member of Grundy County Cattlemen, and a long time member of First Christian Reformed Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Ella Mae; one son Kenneth Eiten of Alamosa, CO; one daughter, Mary Lou Eiten of Fayetteville, AR; one brother Alfred Eiten of Wellsburg; one sister Lillian Eiten of Wellsburg; 3 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 21 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church in Wellsburg with Rev. Thomas J. Vos officiating. Casketbearers were Don Heikens, Bill Janssen, Charles Janssen, Lary Riebkes, Richard Schafer, and Kevin Nederhoff. Burial was in the First Christian Reformed Church Cemetery with Military Rites by AmVet Post #91 and the American Legion Post #213 both of Wellsburg.
The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
