Ruth Boekhoff Services Held

Ruth H. Boekhoff of 1207 Asher, Aplington, was born the daughter of Herman and Tena Huisman Boelts, Sr. on March 15, 1923 in Butler County. She attended rural school at German Township #2 in Grundy County near her home at this time.

On January 31, 1947, Ruth was united in marriage to Ernest Boekhoff in the West Friesland Presbyterian Church in Rural Ackley. They farmed in Grundy County for 35 years before retiring in Aplington at their present address. She was a member of the West Friesland Presbyterian Church. A charter member of the church's "Women In The Church" (a Bible study group), also a member of the neighborhood Bible Study group. She enjoyed her garden, canning vegetables, and freezing sweet corn. Hanging throughout her home, is evidence of her needlework, but first of all, her family came first, and she loved her grandchildren.

Ruth became a resident at the Heritage Care Center in Iowa Falls, on October 25 following brain surgery. At 9:25 a.m. Monday, November 18 Ruth died at the Heritage Care Center reaching the age of 68 years, 8 months, and 3 days. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and one infant brother.

Ruth is survived by her husband Ernest of Aplington, her 2 sons and their wives: Mervin and Kathy of Iowa Falls, and Lynn and Susan of Wichita, KS; 3 brothers, Herman Boelts of Ackley, Marvin Boelts of Holland, and LaVern Boelts of Wellsburg; and 3 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 20 at 1:30 p.m. at the West Friesland Presbyterian Church, rural Acklwy with Rev. Lee W. Mashburn officiating. Laura DeVries was the organist and Genevieve Neymeyer and Stella Neymeyer sang "Supper Time" and "He Touched Me." Casketbearers were Craig Hippen, Greg Boekhoff, Ron Lentz, Dan Boelts, Ron Boelts, and Leon Boelts. Interment was in the West Friesland Cemetery rural Ackley.

Schwartz Funeral Home of Aplington was in charge of the arrangements.
