Mrs. Bertha Meinders, nee Brower, was born on June 19, 1886 in Colfax township, Grundy County, Iowa, and died on May 27, 1930, at the age of 43 years, 11 months and 8 days.

On Feb. 7, 1907, she was married to John Meinders. To this union were born eight children of whom four, two boys and two girls, have preceded their mother into eternity. Also the husband preceded her by one year and five days. There remain to mourn her loss, Martha, Mrs. Willis; Grace, Mrs. Hovenga, Kuno and Henry, her mother, Mrs. Grace Brower, four grandchildren, three sisters, five brothers, three sons-in-law, and a number of other relatives and friends.

It was the lot of Mrs. Meinders to endure much suffering. For 33 weeks she has been in bed with no other prospect but death to relieve her. In spite of her suffering she has been cheerful, always trying to see the bright side, and grateful for the little favors shown to her. During this time she had the loving care of her children, especially of her daughter, Martha, who was constantly about her, doing all that could be done to relieve her. Now her suffering is over, may she be comforted by the Lord on whom she believed and who was a constant source of help to her during her illness.

The funeral services were held at the Reformed church. Rev. Shaefer of Parkersburg officiating and assisted by Rev. Lohr of the Aplington Baptist church.
