Mrs. D. J. Donovan Laid To Rest At Rock Island

Mrs. Anna S. Donovan, well known to Wellsburg people through her many visits at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. J. Kruse here, passed away in St. Anthony's hospital at Rock Island, Illinois, following a brief illness on Thursday, August 22nd. Mrs. Donovan's final illness was of less than twenty-four hours duration and her death was a shock to all who knew her.

Mrs. Donovan, former Anna Schroder, was born on October 13, 1870, at Rock Island, a daughter of Andrew and Augusta Schroder. She was educated at Immanuel Lutheran school and was married to Mr. Donovan, November 27, 1895, at Immanuel Lutheran church. Mr. Donovan died August 2, 1934.

Surviving the deceased are her two daughters, Mrs. W. W. Muench, of Rock Island, and Mrs. H. P. Kruse, of Wellsburg, Iowa; one grandson Daniel J. Kruse; two brothers, Fred and Charles Schroder, of Rock Island. One daughter, Leona passed away August 12, 1918.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon, August 24, at the Immanuel Lutheran church, Rock Island, Ill., the Rev. H. F. C. Wetzel, the pastor, being in charge of the rites. Burial was made in the Rock Island Lutheran cemetery.

Those attending the services from Wellsburg, aside from Mr. and Mrs, Kruse and Danny, were Mrs. Bertha Frerichs, John Frerichs, and Mrs. George Lindaman, and Mrs. O. A. Ontjes of Grundy Center.

Many flowers were sent in her memory from this community for which her daughters are appreciative and ask us to express their thanks.
