Mrs. John H. Schoon Succumbs to Brief Illness Monday a.m.

Mrs. John H. Schoon, 78, died at her home at about 8 a.m. Monday, after a brief illness.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 9, at St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert F. Busch officiating. Burial was in the Shiloh cemetery.

Born Bertha Stoehr, March 18, 1885, she was the daughter of the late William and Etta Stoehr. On February 27, 1907, she was married to John Schoon and they made their home in and around the Wellsburg area.

Mrs. Schoon was a charter member of St. John's Lutheran Church, taking an active part in all church activities.

Survivors include her husband, John, three children, Mrs. Claus Primus (Anna) and Mrs. John Lauterbach (Edna) of Parkersburg and Harold Schoon of Holland; one sister, Mrs. Albert Loots of Wellsburg, a half-brother, William Stoehr of Grundy Center; five half-sisters, Mrs. Davida Meyer, Mrs. Leeno Grimmius (Hanah), Mrs. Ben Grimmius (Emma) both of Grundy Center, Mrs. Melvin Fletcher (Ada) of Dike, Miss Minnie Stoehr of Des Moines; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were three brothers and two sisters.

The Beving Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Music was furnished by the St. John's church choir, with Mrs. Norman Harms as organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. John Heinrich and Mrs. John Weichers. Pallbearers were Wilbur Rust, Eldon Loots, John Venenga, Harry Meyer, Gary Stoehr, and Wilbur Fletcher.
