Funeral of Tobias Meyer Held Thursday

Tobias Meyer, aged 67 years, a retired farmer who moved to Grundy Center not long ago from his farm near that town, dropped dead at his home Tuesday morning about 8 o'clock. He had been working at the home, tearing paper from the wall, preparatory to re-papering a room. The unaccustomed exertion is thought to have caused heart failure. The deceased is the third member of his family to die suddenly.

Mr. Meyer was born January 12, 1863, in Somerset county, Pennsylvania, coming to Grundy county when about 14 years old. He leaves to mourn his sudden passing his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Ray Shipton of Green Mountain, Iowa, three brothers, Joseph, of Grundy Center, Samuel of Whitten and Elias of Plainfield and four sisters, Mrs. Ida Freed, Mrs. Lydia Lewis and Mrs. Charles Calloway, all of Whitten, and Mrs. Mary Vinton of St. Cloud, Minn.

The funeral will be held Thursday (today) at 2 o'clock from the Baptist church at Grundy Center, with Rev. I. D. Leatherman of Ankeny, a former pastor of the Ivester church in charge, assisted by Rev. A. G. Annette, pastor of the Baptist church.
