Etta Johanna Diekhoff, nee Janssen, was born May 26, 1863, at Dornsen, Kreis Wittmund, Germany. She came to America in 1883 and settled near Parkersburg and later near Stout, Ia. She was married to Ottman Diekhoff the 27th of April, 1885. To this union two daughters were born. After they had lived together nearly 34 years, the husband and father was taken by death from her side, on the 30th day of June, 1919. She was for many years a faithful member of the Reformed church, first of the Parkersburg church and later, after the organization of the Stout church, her membership was transferred by letter from the Parkersburg church to the Stout church, where she remained until death, when, as we confidently hope, she was taken into the church triumphant where she shall be with her Lord forever whom she so dearly loved. She died December 27, 1922, having arrived at an age of 59 years, 7 months and 1 day, having been sick two weeks, first of pleurisy, then pneumonia, and then spinal meningitis. She was a good Christian mother. She leaves to mourn her departure two daughters, Marie, living with her at home, and Mrs. Catherine Tapper, one son-in-law, Ed Tapper, three grandsons, one brother in Germany, and many other relatives.
