ARENDS, DREESMAN

Gesina Arends nee Dreesman was born Aug 22, 1843 at Stadtskanal, Province Groningen, Holland and died at her home northeast of Fern Nov 1, 1908 from the effects of rheumatism with which she has been a great sufferer for twenty-seven years, the disease crippling her to such an extent that she was perfectly helpless.

The deceased attended school and renewed her baptism alliance at Weener, Ostfriesland.

In the year of 1868 she together with her parents, two brothers and a sister came to America to Freeport, Ill. where in the year of 1870 she was united in marriage with Dick J. Arends. This union was blessed with six children, four daughters and two sons. Of these two daughters died infancy and one son Wilke died about one and a half year ago at the age of 34.

She attained the age of 65 years, 2 months and 8 days.

Besides her husband she leaves one son, John D. and two daughters Mrs. J. D. Arends and Miss Dora at home, one sister, Mrs. Jacob Meyer and one brother in Lyon county, also a large number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services conducted by Rev Voss were held at the German Lutheran church last Wednesday afternoon where interment also took place.
