Mrs. Sherwood Snittjer Dies At Rochester

Mrs. Sherwood (Miriam) Snittjer, 54, passed away Monday afternoon at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Services are pending at the Doyen Funeral Home in Wellsburg.

She is survived by her husband; one daughter and two sons, Mrs. Larry Martin of Aplington, Pat Kennedy of Wellsburg, Ed Kennedy stationed with the U.S. Air Force in England; one brother, Robert Kennedy of Tyler, Texas; and one sister, Mrs. Maxine Steinmeyer of San Jose, Calif.

Mrs. Sherwood Snittjer Dies At Rochester

Funeral services for Mrs. Sherwood (Miriam) Snittjer were held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grundy Center. Rev. Fr. Paul J. Grace officiated at the service.

Mrs. George C. Lang was organist. Ushers were Don Coleman and Wallace Norman. Flower attendants were Mrs. Jakie G. Lindaman, Mrs. Clarence Geerdes, Mrs. Evert Heikens and Mrs. Lester Huisman.

Pallbearers were Darrell Koch, Clarence Geerdes, Evert Heikens, Jakie G. Lindaman, Harris Peters, and Harlyn Riekena. Interment was held in the Shiloh Cemetery in Wellsburg.

Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Snittjer passed away Monday afternoon, October 29 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, due to diabetes and kidney failure. She reached the age of 54 years, 3 months and 26 days.

She was born in Iowa Falls on July 3, 1925, the daughter of John and Annabelle (Hensing) Kennedy, and graduated from the Iowa Falls High School in 1943. On May 12, 1949, she was united in marriage to Sherwood Snittjer at Iowa Falls. Following their marriage they made their home in Wellsburg.

Mrs. Snittjer attended the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grundy Center.

Preceding her in death were: her parents and two brothers, John and Bernard Kennedy.

Those left to mourn her passing are: her husband, Sherwood Snittjer; one daughter, Mrs. Larry (Margaret) Martin of Aplington; two sons, Pat Kennedy of Wellsburg, Ed Kennedy, stationed with the U.S. Air Force in England; one brother, Robert Kennedy of Tyler, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Maxine Steinmeier of San Jose, California and other relatives and friends.
