Martin Molendorp Funeral Services Were Held Thursday

Martin Molendorp, a lifetime resident of Grundy county, passed away at his home north of Wellsburg, Monday morning about five o'clock. He had been in failing health for the past few months. A stroke was the immediate cause of his death.

He was 74 years, 11 months and 25 days of age at the time of his death. He was born in German township and spent most of his life in this community and had lived on the present home place for the past 38 years. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Molendorp.

He married Trentje Kruse on March 31, 1903. Mrs. Molendorp passed away in March, 1923.

Survivors are: one son Bert, at home. Another son, Theodore passed away in 1940; also two brothers survive, Aeilt of Sibley and Herman of Wellsburg; and two half brothers and nine half sisters. Four brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 16, at the home at 12:30 and later at the Second Christian Reformed Church in Wellsburg. Interment was in the Shiloh cemetery.

The services were conducted by Rev. John Olthoff, pastor of the Second Christian Reformed Church.

Martin Molendorp Died Monday

Martin Molendorp, who had resided in Grundy county all of his life, died at his home four miles north of Wellsburg at five o'clock Monday morning. He had suffered from a heart ailment for two months. He was 74 years old.

Funeral services will be held at the home at 12:30 on Thursday and later at the Second Christian Reformed church at Wellsburg. The services will be conducted by Rev. John Olthoff. Burial will be in the Shiloh cemetery.

Mr. Molendorp was born on a Grundy county farm Nov. 18th, 1876. He grew up on a Grundy county farm and resided on a farm in this county all of his life. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Molendorp, among the early pioneers of Grundy county.

On March 31, 1903, Martin Molendorp and Trentje Kruse were married. They began their married life on a Grundy county farm and resided there continually. 38 years ago they moved to the farm north of Wellsburg where Mr. Molendorp died. Mrs. Molendorp died March 30, 1923. Since that time Mr. Molendorp continued to make his home on the farm. Much of the time he was alone. Of late, his son Bert who operates the farm was with his father.

Mr. and Mrs. Molendorp had two sons, Theodore and Bert. Theodore died in 1940. Other survivors beside the son are one brother, Aeilt from Sibley and Herman, Wellsburg. Four sisters and one brother preceded him in death. Surviving also are two half brothers and nine half sisters.

Obituary Martin Molendorp

Martin Molendorp was born on Nov. 18, 1875, in German township. The last day of March, 28 years later, he was joined in the holy bonds of marriage in Wellsburg.

This union was blessed by two children: one son, Bert, of Wellsburg, and Theodore who preceded him in death in Oct. 1940. The wife of Mr. Molendorp died in 1923.

In his earlier years Mr. Molendorp attended the Evangelical & Reformed church, and later the Second church of Wellsburg.

Mr. Molendorp leaves to mourn his passing, Aielt Molendorp of Sibley and Herman of Wellsburg. Four sisters and another brother preceded him in death. Also surviving are 9 half-sisters and 2 half-brothers, all of whom live in this vicinity, with the exception of one.

Mr. Molendorp suffered a serious heart attack about a month ago from which he had recovered to a great extent. However it wasn't long before he experienced a stroke and from this he never rallied, although for a time, near the end, a little more hope was held. The end came at about 5 o'clock on November 13.
