Mrs. Ben Abbas Passed Away July 1 After a Lingering Illness

Mrs. Ben Abbas, nee Aafke Frerichs, was born March 25, 1884 on the Frerichs home place in northern Grundy county, Iowa. She was a member of the Ackley Christian Reformed church. In 1908, Feb. 8th, she was united in marriage to Ben A. Abbas. To this union seven children were born, three of whom preceded her in her departure, an infant son in 1918, Remda at the age of 19 in 1924, Henrietta at the age of 20 in 1932. She was called away at an early age of 56 years, 3 months and 6 days, on July 1, 1940 after a lingering illness. Mourning her departure are her husband, Ben Abbas, two daughters, Mrs. Tena Ludemann, and Minnie; two sons, Rev. Cornelius Abbas, of Mountain Lake, Minn., and Arend at home; also two granddaughters; also five sisters, Mrs. Will Harken, Mrs. Ben DeVries, Mrs. Joe Frey, Mrs. John Kramer, Mrs. Albert Schoeneman and three brothers, Theo., Cornelius, and Fred Frerichs, all live in the Ackley or Aplington vicinity.

The funeral services were held Friday, July 5, at 1 o'clock at the home and 1:30 at the Ackley Christian Reformed church with the Rev. D. H. Plesscher of Kanawha officiating. Burial was in the Ackley Christian Reformed cemetery.

Rev. and Mrs. Peter Eckhoff, Stella and Thelma, of Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. Matt Lubben, Mr. Harm Eckhoff, Ella and Geraldine, Mrs. Dale Weiler of Charles City, Mr. Gay Weigold, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Lavner, Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Walters, Mr. and Mrs. Kinney Green, Mr. and Mrs. John Valentien, Mrs. John Joh? and Grace, Mrs. and Mrs. Henry ?, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Wei?, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Anacker, all of Mountain Lake, Minnesota.
