Claradean Harrenstein, 91, of Holland, Iowa, died Thursday, October 30, 2003, at the Presbyterian Village in Ackley, Iowa, of natural causes.

Claradean was born December 19, 1911, at home on her parent's farm in Colfax Township, rural Holland, Iowa, the daughter of Barney and Ora (Meents) Kruger. She attended school in Colfax Township. On April 28, 1931, Claradean was united in marriage to Herman B. Harrenstein at her parent's home. Herman and Claradean farmed and had various jobs until they moved to Holland in 1965. Claradean continued to make her home in Holland following the death of her husband Herman in 1973.

Claradean was a lifelong member of Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, and had been a charter member of WIC-Women in Church, having helped start the group. Claradean enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Orene Eberline of Wellsburg, Iowa; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother Bernerd Kruger and his wife Carrie of Holland, Iowa; three sisters-in-law Ordean Starr of Wellsburg, Iowa, Elsie Kruger of Hollland, Iowa, and Lauretta Harrenstein of Kamrar, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Daryl Harrenstein, one son-in-law Verne Eberline; two brothers John & Klaas Kruger; one infant brother; and three sisters Berdene Harms, Onieta Meyer, and Neona Seehusen.
