Jake Paterni, 77, of Wellsburg, died Thursday, August 31, 1995 at his home of natural causes.

He was born on March 6, 1918 to John and Malena Paterni on the home place southeast of Wellsburg. He attended school at Shiloh #6 through 8th grade and then graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1936. On September 7, 1955 he was united in marriage to Ruth Frey in Ackley. Their union was blessed with a set of twins, Royce and Rosella. They continued to farm until they retired in Nov. 1982 and moved to their present home in Wellsburg. Jake enjoyed helping on the farm, fishing, playing cards, and being with his family and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

Jake was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church and had served as an Elder and a Deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; son Royce and wife Marlene; daughter, Rosella and her husband Dale; 6 grandchildren, Chad, Tracie, and Sara VanHauen and Michael and Brian Paterni; numerous nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 9 brothers, Henry, Remmer, Otto, John, George, Richard, Herman, Lenus, and Sam; 3 sisters, Hattie Paterni, Henrietta Hoodjer, and Jennie Rieken. Three daughters died in infancy.
