The people of this vicinity were shocked on hearing of the fatal accident that occurred about six miles east of town on Monday. The circumstances are about as follows: Rufus Chadwick, who is about 70 years old, and his aged mother-in-law, who kept house for him, started to Liscomb in a sleigh. The team became frightened and ran away. The sleigh tongue fell from the neck yoke and the end stuck in the ground, throwing the sleigh and occupants over it. Mr. Chadwick fell on his shoulder and broke his collar bone. When the old lady was picked up it was found that her neck was broken and she was dead. The team had run away several times before. His daughter, who had been living with them, is visiting in Nebraska.
