Died, in Grundy Center November 25, Carrie Tompkins, aged 18 years and nearly eight months.

She was the second daughter of Uriah and Mrs. Barbara Tompkins. She was born in this city, March 27, 1874. Probably never very robust, she has been in poor health for some ten years, and since last April has been confined to her bed most of the time. Her disease was consumption, which caused her much suffering, but she bore it all with commendable patience and resignation.

Last January Carrie was converted and joined the Baptist church. During her illness she was glad to have the Bible read to her, and expressed confidence in God as her Savior. She passed peacefully away last Friday evening. The funeral was at the house on Sunday afternoon. The sermon was preached by the pastor of the Baptist church, J. W. Allen. The burial was in the old cemetery west of town, where her body awaits the resurrection.
