Died, at Grundy Center, Iowa, September 18, 1894, John Marten, age 58 years and 6 months. He was born in Germany and came to this country when 24 years of age. Thirty-four years ago he was married, and for twenty-four years has resided in this county, about fifteen miles northwest of this place. For twenty-three years he had been a member of the Evangelical church. He leaves a wife and seven children, three children having passed on. He was a man who was highly esteemed, an earnest christian and was ready to go.
