The death of Mrs. A. P. Travis occurred last Sunday evening, April 9, 1893, at nine o'clock, at her home in this place. She had been ill for the past few weeks but strong hopes were entertained of her recovery until within a few days of her death. All was done that medical skill and kind friends and neighbors could do to save her life, but without avail, death snatched her away, and the life that was so faithfully sacrificed for another, has gone out forever in this world and the innocent babe of a few weeks will never know a mother's love and a mother's care. She leaves also another child a few years old, a husband, four brothers, four sisters and a stepmother to mourn her untimely death. Three of her sisters came to attend her funeral which occurred yesterday afternoon, April 12, at the Presbyterian church, Rev. D. W. McLane officiating. Mrs. Travis' maiden name was Mary Boettcher. She was born in Germany February 28, 1865, and came with her parents to this country in 1872. Was married to A. P. Travis June 26, 1889. They were married and have always lived in Grundy Center and her death will be mourned by all who knew her.
