Glen S. Moats, 89, of Grundy Center, passed away Thursday, April 29, 1999 at Grundy Care Center of natural causes.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 15, at 2 p.m. at the Ivester Church of the Brethren, rural Grundy Center. Pastor Marlene Neher and Pastor Mary Jane Button-Harrison will officiate. Burial will be in the Sheller Cemetery, rural Eldora. A memorial fund is being established.

Glen was born April 28, 1910 in Grundy Center the son of S. E. and Vera (Gilbert) Moats. He was raised from an early age by his stepmother, Clara Thompson Moats. He graduated from Conrad High School in 1927.

On December 28, 1932 he was united in marriage to Gladys A. Button in rural Eldora. Glen was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Ivester Church of the Brethren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys; his parents; his stepmother, Clara Thompson Moats; and a brother, Edgar Moats.

Survivors include his son, Carl L. (Gwen) Moats of Grundy Center; two daughters, Loreta M. Dressel of Nathrop, CO and Lois J. (Charles) Kruse of Conrad; eight grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Isabelle Nuckolls of Paton and Cecel Ferguson of Spirit Lake.
