Emma Rose, 81, of Grundy Center, Iowa passed away, Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care, in Grundy Center, Iowa; where she was a resident for the last 12 years of her life. Funeral Services will be Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Grundy Center with Pastor Matthew Miller officiating. Visitation will be Friday December 11, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center and Saturday one hour prior to the funeral services at United Methodist Church. Interment will be held privately with the family at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center.

Emma Freese Rose, was born April 28, 1928 in Fern, Iowa. The daughter of Tom Freese and Helene Flater Freese. She graduated from Colfax #1 grade school in Grundy County. She has been a life long resident of Grundy County. Emma married her husband Joseph on August 18, 1960 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua Iowa. She worked as a medical secretary for her husband Joseph E. Rose M.D. for many years. They enjoyed many wonderful years together until his death in 1997. She enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, she loved her friends and family and enjoyed spending her free time in their company.

Emma is survived by her two step-sons George and Wade (Barb) Rose, her sister Elva (James) Brown, her twin brother Edward (Martha) Freese and her brother Chris (Esther) Freese, her sister-in-law Florence Freese, 3 step-grandchildren and 5 step-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph, her parents and her two brothers Fred and Henry Freese.
