Mrs. H. Siebrands Died Monday

Mrs. Hilko Siebrands died Monday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Schafer in Grundy Center. She had been up and around the house the day before. About 8:30 Sunday evening she complained about difficulty in breathing. Her condition continued to get worse until the end came the next morning. She was 77 years old.

Funeral services will be Thursday afternoon at one o'clock at the Engelkes funeral home in Grundy Center and later at Salem Lutheran church in Beaver township. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. The services will be conducted by Rev. Alfred Schum.

Was Native Of Germany
Mrs. Siebrands was born in Petkum, Germany, Dec. 17, 1873. At the age of 18 she came with other members of the family to America. Mrs. Siebrand's maiden name was Mareka Hempen. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ubbe Hempen. The family moved on a farm in Beaver township. In 1898 she and Hilko Siebrands were married. They lived at Reinbeck, Dike, Stout and Holland. They lived 32 years in Holland after which they moved to Grundy Center 15 years ago. The husband died May 3, 1945. Since that time she made her home with her daughter.

Surviving are five daughters. They are, Mrs. Simon Siefken, Reinbeck; Mrs. Henry Schafer, Mrs. Adolf Ridder, Shell Rock; Mrs. John Brandt, Waterloo, Mrs. Tole Bitelmann. There are 16 surviving grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Two sons, two grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
