Eldon Loots Services Held
Eldon Loots, 62, of Wellsburg, passed away on Friday, December 9, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center in Marshalltown of natural causes.
Funeral services were held on Monday, December 12, at 1:30 p.m. at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Wellsburg with Rev. Bruce Zimmerman officiating. Burial followed in the Shiloh Township Cemetery in Wellsburg. Full Military graveside rites were conducted by Wellsburg Amvets #91 and American Legion Post #213.
Pallbearers were Don Heikens, Delbert Hippen, Al Lindaman, Walter Block, Gary Stoehr, Don Geerdes, Kenneth Cordes and Dick Dunham. Honorary pallbearers were Norman Harms, Leon Harms and Lowell Riekena.
Eldon D. Loots was born on April 29, 1932, in Grundy County, the son of Albert and Etta (Stohr) Loots. He received his education at Wellsburg High School, graduating in 1951. On December 28, 1963, he was united in marriage to Jean Pringle in What Cheer, Iowa.
Eldon served in the Air Force after high school graduation. He worked at the Farmers Produce in Wellsburg, in 1956 he purchased the business that distributed eggs in the surrounding areas for 38 years. He closed the produce on November 9, 1994.
He was an active member of the St. John Lutheran Church, currently served as an elder. He was a lifetime member of the Amvets. "Charlie" enjoyed being Santa Claus for Wellsburg for 25 years.
He is survived by his wife, Jean of Wellsburg; mother-in-law, Dorothy Pringle of Washington; two nieces, Melanie Loots and Marcia Serna; one great-niece and one great-nephew.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Willard.
The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg was in charge of the professional arrangements.
