R. W. Day died at the home of his brother, Charles, in Whitten Sunday evening, April 20. Funeral services were held at the house Tuesday. Interment in Benson cemetery.

Obituary.

R. W. Day was born Feb. 10, 1843, in Clinton county, Iowa, and died at Whitten, Iowa, April 29, 1906, aged 63 years, 2 months and 19 days. His father died when he was only 5 years old, and when still a small boy he went to California to seek his fortune. During his life he visited Central America, Australia and other places, giving him a wide range of varied experiences. The last five years or more have been spent in Minnesota with the children of his only brother, G. C. Day, of whom he was very fond. He was kind to the poor and always willing to lend a hand in time of trouble. About two months ago he came to Whitten to visit his brother. For some time he had been poorly and about two weeks ago was taken worse and failed rapidly until the end came Sunday evening. He leaves an aged mother, one brother and three half-sisters to mourn his death.
