Aplington--Supervisor Dick Niehuis, a resident of Pleasant Valley township, died very suddenly at his home Saturday at the age of 54 years, 5 months and 11 days. He had not been feeling well for some time but felt much better Saturday morning and he and Mrs. Niehuis decided to drive to Parkersburg in their car. They got out of the yard and onto the road when he complained of feeling bad and they turned back to the house. He stopped the car and had no more than gotten into the house when death claimed him. He served as supervisor of both Pleasant Valley and German townships for several years. He is survived by his widow, four children, aged mother, brother and sister. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the German Baptist church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Koester, and Rev. H. Dallman of Parkersburg, and the remains were laid to rest in the Pleasant View cemetery north of town. The six members of the board of supervisors of Grundy county acted as pallbearers.
