Merle Albert, 89, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Sunday, September 21,2008, at Westview Estates in Reinbeck, Iowa, while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice.

Merle was born January 19, 1919, in Reinbeck, Iowa, the son of Herman A. and Ella (Hamann) Albert. He attended school and graduated form Reinbeck High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force during WWII. He was united in marriage to Lucille Dutcher on August 6, 1942 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Merle farmed in the Reinbeck area his entire life. He was a member of the Reinbeck American Legion Post #242. He was also a member of the Queen of Heaven Holy Family Catholic Church in Reinbeck.

He is survived by a daughter: Sue Holley of Hudson, Florida; daughter in law: Pat Albert of Tama, Iowa; grandchildren: Amber Holley of New Holland, Pennsylvania, Chris Morgan of Toledo, Iowa, Sam Albert and Curt Albert both of West Des Moines, Iowa; three great grandchildren: Isabelle Abbie and Mollie Morgan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son: Don Albert; and a sister: Beulah Martins.
