Lonnie Lee Phillips, 70, of Wellsburg, Iowa, died Friday, September 5, 2008, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa. Following cremation, Memorial Services will be 1:30 P.M., Monday, September 8, 2008, at Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg, with Reverend Harold Miller officiating. Burial will follow at the Wellsburg Reformed Church Cemetery in Wellsburg. Visitation will be Sunday, September 7, 2008, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., at Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg, where the family will be present to greet friends. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Lonnie Lee Phillips was born on May 15, 1938, in Ulman, Missouri, the son of Harland and Jewel L. (Horton) Phillips. He received his education in Eldon, Missouri. On February 15, 1956, Lonnie was united in marriage to Marylene Harms in Eldon, Missouri. After their marriage they made their home in Eldon, Missouri, until moving to Wellsburg in 1965. Lonnie had worked at Green Products in Conrad and J.P. Car Wash and McFadden Auto, both in Marshalltown, until his retirement in 1998. Lonnie was a member of the Smokey Ridge Muzzle Loaders. He loved to camp and trout fish at Decorah, and he also enjoyed deer hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Marylene of Wellsburg, Iowa; three sons, Lennie Phillips and his wife Dixie of Grundy Center, Iowa; Lonnie Mark Phillips and his wife Kim of Wellsburg, Iowa; Martin Phillips and his wife Janelle of Wadena, Iowa; one daughter, Monica Simons and her husband Jeff of Wellsburg, Iowa; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sylvia Vernon and her husband Clark of Eldon, Missouri; Ialeen Duncan and her husband Bob of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; and two brothers, Walter Phillips and his wife Beverly of Des Moines, Iowa; and Harold Phillips of Carlisle, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Victor and James Phillips.
