At Rest.

It was just at the close of the day, when the shadows deepened, that the death angel entered a home and bore away a beloved wife and mother.

Mrs. Marilda Jane Thompson, daughter of Mr. A. Thomas of Morrison, and wife of Mr. John Thompson one mile west of Morrison, was born in Stephenson county, Ill., Nov. 14, 1858, and "fell asleep" Tuesday evening, Sept. 29, 1896, aged 37 years, 10 months, and 15 days.

When 18 years old she accepted Christ as her Savior and became a member of the Grundy Center M. E. church. About seven years ago she became a member of the Presbyterian church at Morrison. During all these years she has been a most faithful christian. Summer's heat or winter's cold did not keep her from the Sabbath services and many times she attended when in very poor health. The writer can testify she was a very appreciative listener to the preaching of the Word. Her quiet example should be an inspiration to all who knew her. Her noble life of sacrifice seemed verily for Chris's sake. Two children have gone before while the husband and four children survive. One less tie to earth and one more tie to heaven. Her decease was hardly expected though she had been ailing for a week or more.

The funeral services were held in the Morrison Presbyterian church Thursday afternoon. Rev. H. B. Dye, pastor, preached the sermon, Rev. Ellis of the M. E. church, assisting. A large concourse of relatives and friends attended.
