FORD--Died, at the residence of his grandson, Mr. C. B. Ford, Mr. Merry Ford, aged 81 years and nine months.

Deceased was born in Schoharie county, N. Y., on the 11th day of August, 1800. In 1825 he married Sarah House, and in 1845 moved from New York to Wisconsin, where his wife died in September, 1873. In 1875 he came to Grundy county, Iowa, where he lived with his children till death. Mr. Ford at an early age united with the Baptist church in New York, and lived an exemplary Christian life, as all who knew him can testify. He leaves behind him a large circle of friends who, knowing his sterling character, mourn his loss. His last illness, though short, was a painful one, but was borne nobly and with Christian resignation. Never once a murmur escaped his lips.
Verily, it is true of him--
"Life's race well run,
Life's work well done,
Life's crown well won,
Now comes rest."

A short service will be held at the house of his grandson on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., after which his remains will be taken to Wisconsin by his son, Mr. E. A. Ford, to be laid beside those of his wife.
