SHERBON, child 1883-1885

A little child of Mr. Sherbon, of Melrose, was smothered to death in a load of oats last Thursday. It seems the child was playing around the threshing machine and some one put it into the wagon that they were hauling oats with from the machine. It is supposed the little thing fell asleep and the man who was measuring covered it up, and when found was dead. This comes very near being criminal carelessness.
