Gesina Nederhoff Services Held

Gesina Nederhoff, 85, of Wellsburg, passed away Saturday, February 12, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center of natural causes.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 15, at 1:30 p.m. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church in Wellsburg with Rev. Norm Schouten and Rev. Veryln Boone officiating.

Serving as pallbearers were Brad Ross, Brian Schouten, Bruce Schouten, Jeff Eeling, Randy Rieken, Jeff McMartin, and Craig Schouten.

Burial was in the Church cemetery.

Gesina Nederhoff was born on August 22, 1908, in Grundy County, the daughter of John and Dena Christians Riebkes. She attended school at Center School, German Township. On December 12, 1931, she was united in marriage to Henry C. Nederhoff in the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

Henry C. and Gesina farmed after their marriage until Henry's death in 1965 and then she moved to Wellsburg.

She was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church and was baptized and confirmed in the West Friesland Presbyterian Church. She also was a Sunday School teacher for many years. Gesina really enjoyed gardening and her flowers.

Gesina was preceded in death by her husband, Henry C. in 1965; her parents; seven sisters; three brothers; and two grandchildren.

Survivors include her two daughters, Doris Rieken (Ronald) of Wellsburg and Glenys Schouten (Norman) of Pella; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
