Rites For Albert Nederhoff Held Here On Friday

Albert C. Nederhoff passed away Monday afternoon, March 19, 1984, at University Hospitals in Iowa City due to complications of advanced age. He had been hospitalized since February 6th. He reached the age of 85 years, one month, and five days.

Funeral services were held on Friday, March 23 at 1:30 p.m. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church. Officiating at the services were Pastor Roger Huitink and Rev. Gideon Wolbrink.

Mrs. W. Dale Murray and Mrs. Edwin Behrends sang two selections accompanied by Miss Marcella Neessen, organist. Mrs. Ronald Rieken and Mrs. Elso Reints were flower attendants.

The casket bearers were Clarence Diekman, Raymond Diekman, John M. Miller, Don Neessen, Laurence Neessen, and Herbert Meyer. The interment service was held in the Wellsburg Reformed Church cemetery.

Albert was born on a farm, southeast of Wellsburg, on February 14, 1899, the son of Carl and Ella (Cordes) Nederhoff and received his education in the Shiloh No. 7 Country School in the area.

On August 25, 1927, he was married to Alice Neessen at the Wellsburg Reformed Church parsonage by the Rev. William Landsiedel. Following their marriage, they made their home in Grundy Center for two years. They then moved to a farm northwest of Grundy Center where they lived for four years. They then lived in Wellsburg for a short time, before moving to Eldora. Later they lived on a farm for a year before moving to Wellsburg in 1935 where they presently make their home.

Albert began working for the Okones Implement Company in Wellsburg in 1936, where he worked for approximately 25 years. He also was engaged in the auto repair business for four years. He then worked for H & H Implement Company for about nine years before his retirement in 1976.

He was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church having made profession of faith on May 18, 1965.

They were privileged to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in August 1977 with their family and friends at the Wellsburg Reformed Church.

Preceding him in death were: his parents, two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Harm (Effie) Diekman; Mrs. Emery (Tillie) Sheaffer; and Henry C. Nederhoff.

Those left to mourn his passing are: his wife, Alice; two daughters and one son, Mrs. Lois Larson of Swisher, Dale Nederhoff of Dubuque, Mrs. Betty Mehmen of Katy, Texas; three grandsons; two granddaughters; one great granddaughter; three sisters, Mrs. Ann Dorsey of Waterloo, Mrs. Tena Ziesman of Eldora, Mrs. Harry (Jennie) Meyer of Holland; and many other relatives and friends.

Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

We wish to thank everyone for the many kind acts of sympathy extended to us in our bereavement. A special thanks to Pastor Huitink for his words of comfort, to those who provided the music, for memorials, flowers and attendants, food brought in, and to the Guild who served.
