Henry Olthoff, son of Heine Olthoff and Sarah Kramer Olthoff, was born in Holte, East Friesland, on the 24th of February, 1863, and passed out of this life at the Olthoff home in Wellsburg at the age of 81 years, one month and 24 days, April 18, 1944.

He was baptized in Germany on the third of March 1863, and was confirmed in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church, Shiloh twp., on the 24th of March 1877.

He came to America with the family in 1870, arriving in Ackley, Iowa, on the 10th of April.

On the 19th of March, 1887, he was united in holy matrimony to Marie Ascher.

Henry was a good father to his children, a faithful husband and a good neighbor and friend.

He was a member in good standing of his church and was ever found ready to do his best for his Savior and for his church.

In spite of the type of his illness for the past few years, he always became calm and composed when the Scriptures were read to him, when prayers were made and when he could join in the singing of the old familiar church hymns. "Jesu get voran" was the song on his lips and in his heart a week ago. He sang the four verses and didn't miss a word of the song or a beat of the music.

He leaves to mourn his departure the widow and one son, Heinie Olthoff, five daughters, Mrs. Harry Maas, Mrs. Louie Kaiser, Mrs. Anton Venenga and Mrs. Geo. Henry Geerdes, all of Wellsburg, and Mrs. Harry Knock of Parkersburg. One infant son preceded him in death, also three sisters and one brother. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

We wish to take this means of extending our heartfelt thanks to friends and neighbors for their help and sympathy during the illness and following the death of our beloved husband and father. Mrs. Henry Olthoff and children
