Mary Walters, of Wellsburg, died Wednesday June 9, 1999 at her home.

Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Wellsburg, on Saturday, June 12 at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Charles Ager and Rev. Glenn Dieken officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were her nephews, Robert C. Brower, Bernard M. Brower, Charles D. Brower, Jake Walters, Eilert Lee Walters and Kenneth D. Walters.

Maria (Kaiser) Walters, daughter of Louis and Bertha Christine (Olthoff) Kaiser was born at her maternal grandparents home, rural Wellsburg in Shiloh Township, Grundy County, on June 26, 1910. Mary attended and graduated from Shiloh No. 1 after completion of the 8th grade. She then attended Wellsburg High School from 1924-25.

She was united in marriage to Eilert Walters, Jr. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Young America, MN by Rev. W. P. Kramer on June 12, 1946. This union was blessed with one son, Burdette E. Walters, of Wellsburg.

Mary and Eilert farmed for 14 years on Eilert's father's farm south of Buck Grove. In 1960 they moved to Mary's mother's farm in rural Wellsburg. In November of 1976 they moved to their new retirement home in Wellsburg which Mary designed.

She enjoyed her family and collecting antique vinegar cruets, cream spoons, cut glass and teapots. She took pride in her Century Farm. Mary was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and a charter member of the Wellsburg Historical Foundation. She enjoyed her mother cat and kittens and her flowers.

Mary and Eilert had the privilege of celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

She is survived by her husband, Eilert Walters, of Wellsburg; son, Burdette E. Walters, of Wellsburg; one sister, Verdena Brower, of Holland, and her children, Robert and Darlyne Brower and family, Bernard, Mary, Charles and Nancy Brower, all of Holland; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Willie (Bena) Walters of Allison and her children, Jake and Lillian Walters and family of New Hartford, Eilert Lee and Bonnie Walters and family of Parkersburg, and Mike and Betty (Walters) Smith and family of Clear Lake; Kenneth and Martha Walters and family of GC and Duane and Beverly (Walters) Patterson and family of Parkersburg; and many other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers-in-law, Carl Brower, Herman Walters and Willie Walters; and one sister-in-law, Martha Walters.

Wharton Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia was in charge of the arrangements.
