Willard Ennenga Dies from Cancer
Willard Ennenga died last Thursday at his home on the farm northeast of Grundy Center. He had been afflicted with cancer during most of the past year. He was 44 years old last October.
The body was taken to the Engelkes funeral home where services were held Monday afternoon. That service was followed with a service at the Lincoln Center Christian Reformed church. Rev. S. P. Miersma officiated at the service. Burial was in the cemetery adjoining the church.
Willard was born at Holland Oct. 6, 1919. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Eilt Ennenga. He grew up in the Holland neighborhood. On Dec. 9th, 1945, Willard Ennenga and Hannah Tjepkes were married. They resided on a farm in the Holland and Grundy Center area during all of their married life. They had purchased a house in Grundy Center and planned to move into the house the latter part of February. They had arranged for a closing out sale on their farm on February 14th.
Willard Ennenga served in the Army over three years during World War II. He entered the service in January 1942, left for overseas to Europe on August 22, 1942, and remained in Europe until September 1945. He received his honorable discharge from the army shortly after he returned home.
In addition to his work on the farm, he drove a Grundy Center Community school bus for five years.
Surviving are his wife and one son, Gary. Other surviving members of his family are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eilt Ennenga, who reside in Holland; five brothers, Clarence and Dale, Grundy Center; LeRoy, Donald and Arnold of Holland; and three surviving sisters, Mrs. Hans Kuehl, Grundy Center; Mrs. Jake Heeren, of Holland; Mrs. Leroy Saveraid, Waterloo.
