Charles H. Billman was born July 16, 1921 in Grundy County, Iowa, the son of Tony and Ethel (Klontz) Billman. He married Edna Fletcher on December 8, 1944 at Grundy Center, Iowa. She preceded him in death on September 11, 1988. Charles served with the U. S. Army in the European Theatre of Operations during WW II. He was employed by the University of Northern Iowa for 40 years, retiring as the Grounds Manager in 1985. Charles died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at his home in Cedar Falls, at 79 years of age.

He is survived by his two sons, Craig Billman of Beeville, Texas and Monte Billman of O’Fallon, Missouri; his daughter, Sandra Niederhauser of Austin, Texas; eleven grandchildren, Christopher, Robert and Michael Niederhauser, Chase, Christy, Chad and Jonathan Billman, Aaron and Elizabeth Coffin, and Brett and Amy Billman; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Harland Billman of Reinbeck, Iowa, Herbert Billman of Clarion, Iowa and Wayne Billman of Waterloo, Iowa, and a sister, Arlene Jones of Waterloo.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife and parents, and one infant daughter, Sue Lynn Billman.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2001, at Valley View Baptist Church, with burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to the church.
