We publish below some interesting statistics of the rural schools of Grundy county as furnished by County Superintendant R. D. Earl:
Number of one-room rural schools running, 93.
Number reporting, 78.
Total number of pupils enrolled, 1293.
Average enrollment per school, 16.
No. 9, Beaver, has largest enrollment, having 30.
Pleasant Valley has largest enrollment of the townships. It has 120.
Total amount paid teachers per month, $6986.
Average salary paid, $89.43.
Township paying the highest average wage, Colfax, $103.12.
Township having the lowest average teachers wage, Palermo, $90.
Beaver township pays both the highest and lowest salary in the entire county. No. 9 is at the top with $125. No. 3 the lowest, with $70.Certificates:
Three teachers have state.
Nine have first grade county.
Twenty-two have 2nd grade county.
Sixteen have high school normal training (ranked same as 1st grade).
