He Married a Reinbeck Lady

Walter Dick-Peddie Became Benedict Without Advice or Consent of Reporters

Friends of Miss Wanda Barrick were greatly surprised the first of the week to receive announcements of her marriage to Walter Dick-Peddie of Emmetsburg, which took place at Cambridge, Ill., on March 6th. At about the time the wedding took place there were rumors among her friends here and at Morrison that she was married, but the young couple chose to keep it a secret and no information was given out.

Miss Barrick has been teaching at Iowa Falls this year but resigned her position the first of this month and is now with her husband. Mr. Dick-Peddie is in the real estate business at Emmetsburg but they expect to move soon to Detroit, Mich., where they will make their home. They will be at home there after August 1st.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emory Barrick and was born and raised in Morrision where her father was in business for many years. Not long ago the family moved to Reinbeck and Mr. Barrick managed the Community Store, resigning only a few weeks ago. She has never lived here though she is well known here and has lots of friends around here. Mr. Dick-Peddie is not known here although he has been here on various occasions.

For some weeks it has been known here that Walter Dick-Peddie was a benedict, although the Tribune was not taken into his confidence. Well, that same thing has happened to us several times before. The young people now-a-days are not at all inclined to make their matrimonial affairs known to the public. That, of course is their own affair, though we admit we like to get the news while it is news. If we are tardy in extending congratulations we are none the less hearty and sincere in doing so.

The groom is an Emmetsburg boy. He grew to manhood here and his demeanor has been such as to list him among the very best of the young men in the community. He is cordial, courteous and gentlemanly. His capabilities are such as to make his success practically secure. We do not know the bride, but the fact that she has attracted and won Mr. Dick-Peddie speaks well for her. May life hold only that which is good in store for this young couple, and may their wedded life be blessed with peace, plenty, contentment and abundant success.
