FIND BODY IN FIELD

Dead Body of Missing Grundy Center Woman Found In Corn Field by Two Boys at Play

The two small boys of Dr. Middleton of Grundy Center, while chasing a rabbit in a corn field last Thursday, discovered the decomposed body of a woman lying on the ground near the city park. They immediately notified the authorities and the coroner called a jury and an examination was made of the body. It was positively identified as that of Edna Brett.

Miss Brett was a young lady about 25 years of age and had until recently been living with her parents in Colorado. Last summer she moved from there to Grundy Center, making her home with her sister, Mrs. Archie McMillan, and brother, Willis Brett. On September 24 Miss Brett disappeared and no trace whatever could be found of her, although search had been quietly made by her relatives.

The ring found on her hand and her coat and suit were identified as those of Miss Brett, although the body was decomposed beyond recognition. Near the body was found an empty bottle of chloroform, so no doubt remained as to the cause of death. The body was immediately taken care of by relatives. No cause has been assigned as a reason for the suicide.
