Howard, Eliza M. (Hill) 1849-1927

HOWARD, HILL, OLEARY, WEST, REYNOLDS

Eliza Matilda Hill was born in Janesville, Wisconsin, Aug. 12th, 1849. Her girlhood days wee spent in Clayton county, Iowa where she grew to womanhood and was united in marriage to Hosea B. Howard, March 26, 1866, moving to Churdan in 1892 where they have since resided.

She was the mother of eleven children, ten of them survive her, Henry C. Howard, George W. Howard of Churdan, Iowa; James N. of Manturia, Calif.; Eliza F. of Pasadena, Calif.; Elmer C. of Covina, California; Jacob C. of San Antonio, Texas; Freedom J. of Jefferson' Fred A. of Ames; Cora B. Howard of Red Oak, Ia., and Mae R. O'Leary of Fort Dodge. One son William E. preceded her in death.

Mrs. Howard was one of a family of four children. Her older sister, Mrs. William West of Churdan, and Mary Reynolds of Wayne, Neb., have passed on. Her brother, James C. Hill lives in Churdan, Iowa.

Mrs. Howard had been an invalid for five years. She fell at that time and has suffered constantly since the accident and has been cared for by loving hands until her spirit was called home.

The funeral services were held in the M.E. church Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. conducted by the pastor, assisted by Rev. Watson of the F.M. church. Her body was interred in the Highland township cemetery.
