Funeral Rites Held for Edna McClurg

Funeral services for Mrs. Forrest (Edna) McClurg were held at the Slininger chapel at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 24, with the Rev. Gilbert G. Stout, minister of the First Methodist church, Jefferson, officiating.

Dr. J.K. Johnson, Jr., accompanied by Mrs. Shirley Winey, sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "The Lord's Prayer".

Casketbearers were Delmar Underwood, Don Underwood, Freeland Connery, Ben Wuebker, Wayne Durlam and Roy Flack. Interment was in Jefferson cemetery.

Edna Madlen McClurg, daughter of Fredrick and Madlen Sitterle Mengedot was born in Schaller, Ia., on Jan. 10, 1907, and departed to her eternal resting place on June 21, 1956 in Jefferson, at the age of 48 years, five months and five days.

Edna united with the Methodist church and was a charter member of the Shenton(?) Sunday school class. She was an active member of that class for many years. Mrs. McClurg attended the Jefferson schools.

On June 14, 1937, she was united in marriage to Forrest McClurg.

She met an untimely death as a result of an automobile accident which occurred on September 20, 1955, about one mile from her home. Hospitalized for nine months, Edna was very cheerful to the last.

Preceding her in death are her father and sister, Ilene.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Forrest McClurg; her mother, Mrs. Madlen Mingedot; three sisters, Florence Mingedot of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Herman Wiggins and Mrs. Carl Hanson, both of Scranton; an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Lynch of Jefferson; nieces and grandnieces; other relatives and many friends.
