Hazel Ethel Shay, 98, of Centralia died Sunday, August 6, 1995, at Candlelight Care Center in Columbia.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, August 11, at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Inverness, Florida, with the Rev. Craig Davies of the First Presbyterian Church of Inverness officiating.

Mrs. Shay was born on Jan. 2, 1897, in Scranton, Iowa, to John Arthur and Katherine Elizabeth Cox McClurg in Scranton, Iowa.

She married Lial Charles Shay on February 22, 1922, in Jefferson, Iowa, and he preceded her in death in April 1968.

Mrs. Shay was a member of First Christian Church of Centralia.

Survivors include a son, Lial J. Shay of Centralia, 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Onnen.
