James Arthur Adams Jordan was born March 17, 1935 in Iowa City, Iowa and died March 19, 1982 in Amarillo, Texas. He is buried in Dillavou Cemetery, Churdan, Greene County, Iowa. He was married to Sharon Kay Dowling.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 22, from Brown Funeral Home in Churdan for James A. Jordan, 45, of Amarillo, Texas, former Greene county resident.

The Rev. Clifford Heckman officiated. Mrs. Joni King was organist.

Casket bearers were Duane Clark, Keith Wright, Robert Gebhart, Lawrence Tilley, John Shoemaker Jr. and Harold Hoyle. Interment was in Dillavou Cemetery.

James A. Jordan was born April 16, 1936, in Iowa City. He passed away March 19 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson following a brief illness.

James was legally adopted by Merrill & Marie Jordan, who raised him. Jim attended rural school in Hardin and Bristol townships through the eighth grade, and then attended high school in Churdan.

In 1954 Jim enlisted in the United States Army and was assigned to the Army Security Agency branch. He served six years in the Army, over half of this time at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines. Following the service, Jim worked as a truck driver for most of his life.

James Jordan was united in marriage to Sharon Kay Dowling at Silver City, New Mexico. To this union were born 4 daughters: Patty (Mrs. Lonnie) Harrison of Morton, Texas; Kathy (Mrs. Billy) Kindle, Chrissy and Peggy, all of Amarillo, Texas.

Jim made his home in Amarillo and was a member of the Washington Avenue Christian Church.

Survivors include his parents, 4 daughters and 2 sons-in-law.
