The Clinton Age, May 12, 1871
The Grand Junction Headlight says that on Sunday morning, April 3d, while Mr. Willis Gaunt, living on the county line between Dallas and Green County was hunting his stock. He was thrown from his horse and so badly injured as to cause his death in about twenty-four hours afterwards. – He was thrown, so we understand about 9 o’clock a.m., and although his neighbors looked for him all night Sunday he was not found until daylight Monday morning. The physicians who were in gave of their opinion the man could not have spoken after he was thrown, the spinal column had been dislocated by the fall.
