Hi ! Duane,

My G-G-Grandmother was Jane Simons. She married Hugh M. Irwin and they lived in Meigs County, Ohio. The descendants moved from Ohio to Fremont County Iowa in the early 1850's.

I'm not sure if your Frank Simons is related to my Jane but you could try to find him still living with his parents on the 1850 census. If you don't know where Frank was born, you might try Ohio, particulary Meigs County.
