After a year's illness, during which time he was kept In the house most of the time, Dr. D. W. Miller, age 89, died at the home of his son, J. N. Miller, 1109 W. Sheridan, Thursday afternoon at 5:30. His illness grew to be of a more serious nature about a week previous to this death, and during the greater part of his last week, he was unable to leave his bed alone, although he was conscious until the last.

The funeral was held at the Christian Church Saturday afternoon at 1:30, conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. S. Lowe. Interment in the Farragut Cemetery.

Besides the son with whom he was making his home, he leaves three other sons and a daughter; Walter Miller at St. Francis, Kansas; William Miller of Malvern; Lincoln Miller of Stenct, Iowa; and Mrs. Laurence Griffith of Northboro. His wife preceded him two years ago.

Derbin Walter Miller was born November 18, 1827, in Highland County, Ohio. His father's business was farming. After he grew to young manhood the family moved to Knox County, Illinois, where he was married to Eliza Jane Latimer of Arlington, Illinois, August 29, 1852. In a few year's they moved to Fremont County, taking land near Farragut. They moved to Shenandoah about 26 years ago.

Mr. Miller was an old soldier, having served for three years in the Army of the Cumberland, going thru the heaviest campaigns. For years he has been a member of the Burnside Post, Shenandoah.
