DEATH OF JOHN ROSSEAN ON THURSDAY

John Franklin Rossean, son of Samuel T. and Luraney Rossean, was born November 6, 1872 in Madison township, three miles east of Hamburg, Iowa, and passed away Thursday, March 23, 1950, at the age of 77 years, 4 months and 17 days.

He was married to Iola Florence Dovel December 23, 1895. To this home came four children, Ora A., Arnold R., and Mrs. Hawley Kerr of Hamburg and Mrs. Harry Goff of Richmond, Michigan. Along with his companion and children he leaves granddaughters Kathy Lou and Kollen Kerr, and Lorraine Rossean of Hamburg and Joy Ann Goff of Michigan.

He was a member of a family of nine children and had spent his entire life in this area. Of this family in pioneer days, he leaves one brother, Samuel T. of Kansas City and one sister, Mrs. Geo. Woolcot of Creston, Iowa.

He was known as a loving father and husband, a man of integrity and much of his life was devoted in service to others. He loyally supported worthwhile projects in his community, servng several years of leadership for the local school, township and the farm bureau. He counted his friends from among the high and low, meeting all on common ground.

He has been associated with his sons in farming and raising of livestock which he shipped to all parts of the country. His code of life was based on friendship, integrity and service to others. His reward was a long and full life and he will be missed by the family and friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 25, at the Johnson Funeral Home, with the Rev. C.E. Kingsley in charge. Interment in the Mt. Olive cemetery.

Relatives from a distance who came to attend the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. Harry Goff, Richmond, Michigan; Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Rossean, Alma, Neb.; Mr. and Mrs. P.J. Rossean, Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Lester Dovel, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Dovel and Lester Dovel, Jr, Douglas, Neb.; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Phelps, Sterling, Neb.; and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dovel and family of Pawnee City, Neb.
