OBITUARY

Wilbur Clarington Fugitt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. C. Fugitt, was born in Riverton, Iowa, May 20, 1910 and died December 25, 1932, in the hospital in Hamburg, Iowa, at the age of 22 years, 7 months and 5 days. His death was the result of an auto accident which occurred on December 23, about two miles west of Riverton.

Wilbur spent his boyhood in Riverton and attended the public school there. He afterward attended the Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Mo. In 1928 he went to northwest Nebrska, where he engaged in farming 800 acres. This was quite an undertaking for a boy of 18, but Wilbur had the courage to do it. In 1930 he returned to Riverton and has been farming the home place.

On November 18, 1929, he was united in marriage to Mis Helen Parmenter. To this union was born one child, Virginia Lee, who, together with his wife, his father and mother, one sister, Mrs. Fred Notson, of Alliance, Nebr., one brother, Oliver, of Portland, Oregon, a half brother, Earl C. Fugitt, of Fayetteville, Ark., and one half sister, Mrs. Pearl Johnson, of Yakima, Washington, remain to mourn his untimely death.

Wilbur was of a very cheerful disposition. He greatly loved the outdoors; fishing, hunting and camping were among his favorite sports. There was no Boy Scout Camp in Riverton when he was a boy, but Wilbur joined the national organization and became a Lone Scout. His many friends will miss his cheerful smile.

The funeral was held in the Methodist chucrch in Riverton, Wednesday afternoon, December 28, Burial was made in Mount Zion Cemeterty. The services were confducted by the Rev. R.C. Buchanan, a former pastor.
